Underwater Monitoring for Long-Term Data Collection

CC-Bio is an underwater monitoring camera system built for marine researchers and conservationists who need uninterrupted, long-term data collection in remote and harsh underwater environments.

With up to 30 days of standalone operation or even longer-term deployments with tethered connectivity,
CC-Bio offers unmatched durability for biodiversity assessments and extended ecological monitoring.

Underwater Monitoring in Harsh Marine Conditions

Robust Design

Built to endure depths of up to 800m, CC-Bio provides peace of mind for extended and repeated deployments in harsh marine conditions.

Long-Term Monitoring

Continuous data collection without interruptions, eliminating the need for frequent maintenance or redeployments.

Easy Integration

Its compact and durable design allows it to be used independently or integrated into existing equipment and systems.

Timelapse & Scheduling

Customise capture intervals to observe critical moments over extended periods of time across weeks or even months.

Reliable Data Collection

The tethered system ensures uninterrupted data collection, prevents data loss, and enables remote data retrieval to cut operational costs.

Live Data Streaming & Unlimited Recording with Tethered Connectivity

CC-Bio operates as either a standalone system with a 30-day battery life or as a tethered unit for unlimited real-time monitoring. The tethered connectivity enables live video streaming, cloud uploads, and remote data retrieval, eliminating the need for costly vessel trips to retrieve footage. A solar-powered buoy option also allows year-round deployments.

While traditional methods require frequent retrieval, increasing cost and disturbance to ecosystems, CC-Bio changes this. Its tethered system allows researchers to extend monitoring for months or even years—capturing more reliable data with less human intervention.

Field-Tested in Biodiversity Assessments and Impact Surveys

Monitoring Offshore Farm

environmental monitoring on seagrass meadow using catchcam technology

Off the coast of Barcelona, a new project is farming seagrass offshore before transplanting it. CatchCam enables real-time monitoring, giving researchers instant insights into seagrass growth.

Developing Bycatch Solutions

Blonde Skate from Fisheries Bycatch Research

Jasmine Somerville, a PhD researcher at the University of Exeter, used the CatchCam camera to study marine life behaviour and develop bycatch solutions.

Biodiversity Assessment using AI

The SeaFrame project combined CatchCam footage with an AI software to analyse months of data in minutes, saving time and resources for large-scale biodiversity surveys.

Enhancing Research Through Collaboration

We understand that every research project is unique. The CC-Bio system is not a one-size-fits-all solution—it’s a tool that can be adapted to your specific research needs.

Whether you require additional sensors, specific mounting configurations or integration with data analysis tools, our team is here to help you find the perfect solution for your specific data collection needs.

Non-Invasive Solution for Marine Research

Unlike traditional baited systems (BRUVs), CC-Bio offers a non-invasive approach to capturing marine life’s natural behaviour over extended periods of time. It ensures accurate and unbiased data critical for biodiversity assessments and marine conservation studies.

While not a BRUV system, CC-Bio seamlessly integrates with BRUV setups, offering exceptional flexibility for diverse research needs.
