Underwater Sensor for Accurate Data Collection
Build to Last
Built to handle high pressure, impacts, and rough handling, SeaSensor is ideal for repeated use in tough underwater conditions.
Automated Data Collection
SeaSensor provides accurate readings on temperature, depth, turbidity, light intensity, immersion and motion; to support evidence-based decision making.
Compact and Agile
Available in 300 and 800m depth-rated variants, SeaSensor is small enough to fit almost any setup. It can also accommodate extra sensors via its free port connection.
30 days of data collection
The extended battery life and customisable sample rate support long-term monitoring projects on a single battery charge.
Quick and Easy Data Transfer
With Bluetooth connectivity, data can be accessed quickly once the device is back on deck, streamlining the time between collection and analysis.

SeaSensor makes it easy to improve your fishing operations
It can be quickly mounted into gear to automatically collect key data during deployments. Use this data to optimise fishing times, identify the best locations, and avoid barren areas where conditions may lead to poor catch rate.
With timestamped metrics, you can track seasonal changes and understand how environmental ranges afftect your target and bycatch species, making your fishing more efficient and sustainable.
SeaSensor in Action
Fishing Gear Optimisation

SeaSensor was deployed in Orkney to track how temperature influences crab activity in creels over several months. This data helped improve catch rates.
Innovation in Fishing

Used in innovative projects, SeaSensor collects data that integrates with AI to improve sustainability in commercial fishing.
Habitat Monitoring

The versatility of SeaSensor makes it an ideal tool for habitat monitoring. By measuring turbidity, light intensity, and other key metrics, it can support projects aimed at assessing biodiversity.
FAQs
SeaSensor attaches to fishing or research equipment, activating upon submersion to record environmental metrics.
You have a few easy options to access your data:
- Cloud Hub: The hub automatically connects the SeaSensor system to the cloud. That way, you can access your data in the cloud from anywhere.
- Deploy and Recover: After deployment, retrieve the sensor and simply use the SeaSensor App to download the data via Bluetooth. You can view the data instantly for immediate feedback. For more in-depth analysis, the data can be downloaded as a .csv file for later processing.
- Acoustic (Coming Soon): This will display data live on a screen in the wheelhouse—no retrieval required.
Environmental conditions strongly influence target species and bycatch rates. SeaSensor provides valuable data to help vessel operators refine fishing strategies, improve catch outcomes, and reduce gear impact on marine ecosystems. Many vessels lack tools to observe these conditions, making SeaSensor an essential solution for sustainable fishing practices.
Battery life varies with sampling frequency:
- 1 sample per minute: Up to 30 days of deployment.
- 1 sample every 15 minutes: Up to 60 days of deployment.
SeaSensor simplifies ocean data collection by integrating multiple sensors into one device. It collects key metrics like temperature, depth, turbidity, light intensity, immersion, and a 9-axis accelerometer.
Additional data like salinity, dissolved oxygen, and pH are in development and available upon request as custom configurations.
Yes, you can program SeaSensor using the SeaSensor App. Currently, there are three sampling modes, with more to be added in the future:
- Rapid Sampling – Collect data quickly over a short time period.
- Medium Sampling – Sample accelerometer data every second, with average values calculated every 15 seconds.
- Extended Sampling – Set for longer durations and wider coverage.
The app lets you easily select and switch between these modes to suit your needs. Depending on the mode, the battery can last for up to 30 days – or even longer – in one charge.
