Advanced Underwater Sensor

SeaSensor

Advanced Underwater Sensor

SeaSensor is a robust, high-performance underwater sensor designed for accurate monitoring in the harshest marine environments.

Built for commercial and research applications,  it collects key metrics like temperature, depth, turbidity, light intensity, immersion, and motion.

SeaSensor Features

Build to Last

Built to handle high pressure, impacts, and rough handling, SeaSensor is ideal for repeated use in tough underwater conditions.

Automated Data Collection

SeaSensor provides accurate readings on temperature, depth, turbidity, light intensity, immersion and motion; to support evidence-based decision making.

Compact and Agile

Available in 300 and 800m depth-rated variants, SeaSensor is small enough to fit almost any setup. It can also accommodate extra sensors via its free port connection.

30 days of data collection

The extended battery life and customisable sample rate support long-term monitoring projects on a single battery charge.

Quick and Easy Data Transfer

With Bluetooth connectivity, data can be accessed quickly once the device is back on deck, streamlining the time between collection and analysis.

SeaSensor makes it easy to improve your fishing operations

It can be quickly mounted into gear to automatically collect key data during deployments. Use this data to optimise fishing times, identify the best locations, and avoid barren areas where conditions may lead to poor catch rate.

With timestamped metrics, you can track seasonal changes and understand how environmental ranges afftect your target and bycatch species, making your fishing more efficient and sustainable.

SeaSensor in Action

Fishing Gear Optimisation

Habitat Monitoring

The versatility of SeaSensor makes it an ideal tool for habitat monitoring. By measuring turbidity, light intensity, and other key metrics, it can support projects aimed at assessing biodiversity.

FAQs

SeaSensor attaches to fishing or research equipment, activating upon submersion to record environmental metrics. Once back on deck, it transfers data via Bluetooth to a compatible device with the installed SeaSensor App. This allows the user to quickly see the data for instant feedback. For more in-depth analysis, the data can be downloaded as a .csv file for later processing.

Environmental conditions strongly influence target species and bycatch rates. SeaSensor provides valuable data to help vessel operators refine fishing strategies, improve catch outcomes, and reduce gear impact on marine ecosystems. Many vessels lack tools to observe these conditions, making SeaSensor an essential solution for sustainable fishing practices.

Battery life varies with sampling frequency:

  • 1 sample per minute: Up to 30 days of deployment.
  • 1 sample every 15 minutes: Up to 60 days of deployment.

While SeaSensor captures raw data, it doesn’t perform predictive analysis. The data can be exported for custom analysis in applications best suited to your needs. We are however investigating how we can help you turn this data into valuable insights and hope to have more on this in 2025.
